Lysine acetate is a salt composed of the essential amino acid L-lysine and acetic acid. While traditionally used as a component of parenteral amino acid solutions for nutritional support, it is being investigated by CHU Gabriel-Montpied as a therapeutic intervention for metabolic acidosis in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The mechanism of action relies on the metabolic conversion of the acetate moiety into bicarbonate, which serves as a systemic buffer to neutralize acid accumulation.
