Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Algimate is a brand name for lysine clonixinate (clonixin lysinate), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with potent analgesic properties. It is marketed by Jaba Recordati (a subsidiary of Recordati) in Portugal. Lysine clonixinate acts primarily by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, specifically COX-1 and COX-2, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain, fever, and inflammation. It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain of various etiologies, including musculoskeletal pain, postoperative pain, dysmenorrhea, headaches, and dental pain. Algimate is available in oral film-coated tablet and injectable solution formulations.
