Overview

Lysine clonixinate + cyclobenzaprine is a combination drug consisting of two active pharmaceutical ingredients: lysine clonixinate (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, NSAID) and cyclobenzaprine (a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant). - **Lysine clonixinate** acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby suppressing pain and inflammation. - **Cyclobenzaprine** acts at the brainstem level of the central nervous system to reduce muscle hyperactivity and muscle spasms; its mechanism involves inhibition of descending serotonergic pathways and antagonism of various neurotransmitter receptors, including serotonin (5-HT2, 5-HT6, etc.), adrenergic (α1, α2), histamine (H1), and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors[1][2][3][4]. This combination is primarily indicated for short-term treatment of acute musculoskeletal pain, especially when associated with muscle spasm and inflammation. It is usually administered orally. The combination is commonly used in various countries in Latin America and some other regions for pain management; it’s not universally approved in all markets.
