Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lysine glutamate is the 1:1 salt of **L-lysine** and **L-glutamic acid** with CAS number 5408-52-6. It is a non-covalent amino-acid salt rather than the covalent lysylglutamic-acid dipeptide known as Vilon. It has been used as a chemical, nutritional, and pharmaceutical-formulation ingredient, and was the subject of a historical Betamed Pharmaceuticals patent describing topical or intradermal administration for treatment of herpes simplex infections. A specific molecular antiviral target and validated mechanism of action have not been established. ([pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov](https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/L-Lysine-L-glutamate))
