Drug intelligence / Profile preview
F-1520 is an intravenous amino acid solution containing L-lysine hydrochloride and L-arginine hydrochloride, developed by FUJIFILM Toyama Chemical (formerly FUJIFILM RI Pharma) in collaboration with Advanced Accelerator Applications (a Novartis company). It is specifically indicated as a renal protectant for use during peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) with somatostatin analogs, such as lutetium (177Lu) oxodotreotide (F-1515). The administration of F-1520 aims to reduce the radiation dose to the kidneys by competitively inhibiting the renal tubular reabsorption of the radiolabeled peptide. By saturating the transport mechanisms in the proximal tubules, F-1520 mitigates the risk of radiation-induced nephrotoxicity in patients with somatostatin receptor-positive neuroendocrine tumors (NETs).
