Overview
Lysoclear is a recombinant enzyme therapy being developed by Ichor Therapeutics, through its portfolio company Lysoclear, Inc., for the treatment of atrophic (dry) age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and Stargardt's macular degeneration. The therapy is designed to clear toxic vitamin A aggregates, such as N-retinylidene-N-retinylethanolamine (A2E) and other lipofuscin components, from the lysosomal compartments of retinal pigmented epithelial (RPE) cells. By degrading these metabolic byproducts, Lysoclear aims to restore lysosomal function and prevent the progressive RPE cell death and subsequent vision loss characteristic of these macular dystrophies. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
