Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LYT-500 is an orally administered therapeutic candidate in development for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), specifically targeting mucosal barrier damage. It is a novel combination drug that contains interleukin 22 (IL-22) and an anti-inflammatory small molecule, designed to address two key underlying causes of IBD pathogenesis and progression: mucosal barrier disruption and inflammation. The dual mechanism aims to provide both mucosal repair via IL-22 agonism and targeted resolution of tissue inflammation through the immunosuppressant component. Developed using technology from Alivio Therapeutics, now part of PureTech, this approach seeks to maximize efficacy at inflamed sites while minimizing systemic exposure and toxicity compared to existing biologic therapies[1][2][4][7].
