Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lyzyme is an oral digestive aid syrup developed and marketed by Stadchem. It is a fixed-dose combination of two key digestive enzymes: fungal diastase (alpha-amylase) and pepsin. Fungal diastase is a starch-degrading enzyme that hydrolyzes complex carbohydrates into simpler sugars like maltose, facilitating easier absorption. Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme that cleaves dietary proteins into smaller peptides within the acidic environment of the stomach. Together, these enzymes supplement the body's natural digestive capacity to relieve symptoms of indigestion, dyspepsia, flatulence, bloating, and loss of appetite.
