Overview
M-920 (also known as L-826,920) is a small molecule pan-caspase inhibitor originally developed by Merck Frosst. It targets multiple caspases, including caspase-1, caspase-3, caspase-4, caspase-5, caspase-6, caspase-7, and caspase-8. In preclinical models, M-920 has demonstrated therapeutic potential in ameliorating diabetic nephropathy (diabetic kidney disease) by reducing renal caspase-1 and inflammasome activity, thereby preventing pyroptosis and inflammation. It has also shown efficacy in animal models of sepsis by preventing sepsis-related apoptosis of B and T cells, and in models of retrograde olfactory receptor neuron apoptosis.
