M-CENK is an autologous adoptive cell therapy consisting of memory cytokine-enriched natural killer (NK) cells. Developed by ImmunityBio, the therapy involves the collection of a patient's own mononuclear cells via apheresis, which are then expanded and activated in a laboratory setting using specific cytokines to induce a "memory-like" phenotype. This process is intended to enhance the cells' anti-tumor cytotoxicity, persistence, and proliferation compared to standard NK cells. M-CENK is typically administered as an intravenous infusion and is frequently evaluated in combination with ImmunityBio's IL-15 superagonist, N-803, which supports the survival and activity of the infused cells in the tumor microenvironment. It is currently being investigated in Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of high-risk prostate cancer, platinum-resistant ovarian cancer, and various advanced or metastatic solid tumors.
