M-CSF shRNA lentivirus is a research-grade gene silencing tool consisting of a lentiviral vector encoding short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to knock down the expression of macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF, also known as CSF1). In preclinical models of mammary cancer, transduction of tumor cells with this lentivirus inhibits M-CSF expression, leading to a reduction in M2 macrophage infiltration, tumor growth, and lung metastasis. It is primarily utilized as a laboratory research reagent to study the crosstalk between cancer cells and tumor-associated macrophages in the tumor microenvironment.
