Drug intelligence / Profile preview
M-Gard is a highly purified, proprietary **beta-1,3/1,6-glucan** isolated from the cell wall of baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), designed as an immunomodulatory dietary supplement. Its distinguishing features include a unique molecular structure with a beta-1,3-glucose backbone and long beta-1,6-branched side chains, resulting in especially potent bioactivity compared to other beta-glucans[1][2][8]. M-Gard acts primarily by modulating and training the innate immune system: it interacts with immune cell receptors, enhances immune cell activation, and promotes healthy inflammatory responses[1][2][5][8]. This “immune training” leads to a stronger and faster response to future challenges from pathogens. M-Gard is extensively studied, with human clinical trials demonstrating benefits including reduced incidence, duration, and severity of respiratory tract infections and allergies, as well as improved vigor in periods of stress[1][2][3][4][5][8]. It is often used in functional foods, beverages, and dietary supplements, and can serve as a vaccine adjuvant[1][4]. M-Gard is produced under strict GMP conditions, is gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, and has Self-Affirmed GRAS status[1][2][4][8].
