M-Guard

M-Guard is a nutraceutical supplement developed by Glovia Co., Ltd. specifically for the management of cognitive symptoms associated with Down syndrome. The active component, MG-CP, is a fermented extract produced from *Bacillus subtilis*. The therapeutic rationale is based on the inhibition of Dual specificity tyrosine-phosphorylation-regulated kinase 1A (DYRK1A), an enzyme encoded by a gene on chromosome 21. In individuals with Down syndrome, the triplication of chromosome 21 leads to the overexpression of DYRK1A, which is a major contributor to impaired neurogenesis and cognitive deficits.
