M-M-R II (Kasr Al Ainy Hospital)

**M-M-R II** is a trivalent, live-attenuated measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine developed and manufactured by Merck. It contains attenuated measles, mumps, and rubella viruses and induces antigen-specific humoral and cellular immune responses that protect against the three corresponding viral diseases. In the Kasr El Aini Hospital Phase 3 COVID-19 trial, M-M-R II was repurposed investigationally for potential reduction of SARS-CoV-2 infection or respiratory illness among healthcare professionals; this was a cross-protection hypothesis and not a SARS-CoV-2-specific vaccine indication.
