Overview
M-M-R II + PUVV is a combination of two live, attenuated viral vaccines developed by Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC, administered concomitantly as separate injections. It consists of M-M-R II (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Virus Vaccine Live) and PUVV (Process Upgrade Varicella Vaccine), which is a monovalent varicella vaccine containing the Oka/Merck strain produced via an improved manufacturing process. This combination is designed to provide active immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) in children. In clinical development, this concomitant administration served as a comparator to Merck's quadrivalent MMRV vaccine, ProQuad, to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the upgraded varicella manufacturing process (PUVV) when given alongside the standard MMR vaccine.
