Overview

M012 is a lead compound developed by Merganser Biotech, classified as a minihepcidin and hepcidin mimetic peptide. It is designed to treat rare hematological and iron overload diseases such as Beta Thalassemia, Polycythemia Vera, and Hemochromatosis by restricting iron absorption. The technology behind M012 originated from preclinical research at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and Weill Cornell Medical College, and was licensed from UCLA. Merganser Biotech secured $28 million in Series A financing in February 2015 to advance M012 into clinical development, including Phase 1 trials.
