M108 (also known as FG-M108) is a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets the tumor-associated antigen Claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2), an isoform of claudin-18 expressed on certain tumor cells, particularly in gastrointestinal cancers such as gastric and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. By binding to CLDN18.2, M108 induces antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), leading to the destruction of CLDN18.2-expressing tumor cells and inhibition of cell proliferation[1][5][7]. The expression of CLDN18.2 in healthy tissues is limited to short-lived differentiated epithelial cells of the gastric mucosa, making it a selective target for cancer therapy[5]. Developed by FutureGen Biopharmaceutical (Beijing), M108 has shown potential immunostimulating and antineoplastic activities and is being evaluated primarily for solid tumors including gastrointestinal cancers, esophageal cancer, adenocarcinoma, breast cancer, lung cancer, and colorectal cancer[3][5]. The drug is administered intravenously.
