M117101 is a topical small molecule muscarinic receptor antagonist being developed by Maruho Co., Ltd. for the treatment of primary palmar hyperhidrosis. As an anticholinergic agent, it functions by competitively inhibiting the binding of acetylcholine to muscarinic receptors on eccrine sweat glands, thereby reducing sweat production. It is currently in Phase II clinical development in Japan, where it is being evaluated as a once-daily topical treatment for patients with excessive palm sweating. This asset is distinct from Maruho's other hyperhidrosis treatments, such as Rapifort (glycopyrronium tosylate) and M518101 (oxybutynin).
