M2R002 (also known as M2R Kidney) is an autologous cell therapy being developed by M2R Lab for the treatment of acute kidney failure (AKF) and chronic kidney failure (CKF). The therapy utilizes the patient's own leukocytes, which are isolated from blood and modified using the proprietary M2R technology to adopt an anti-inflammatory and regenerative phenotype. This modification process is notable for not requiring genetic manipulation, ex vivo expansion, or the addition of exogenous growth factors. M2R002 is designed to modulate the immune response, reduce inflammation, and promote the proliferation and differentiation of endogenous stem cells to repair kidney injuries. Preclinical studies in animal models have demonstrated its potential to recover kidney function, and the candidate is currently undergoing advanced preclinical toxicity and biodistribution studies in preparation for Phase I/II clinical trials.
