Drug intelligence / Profile preview
M617 is a synthetic chimeric peptide that acts as a potent and selective agonist of the galanin receptor 1 (GalR1), with Ki values of approximately 0.23 nM for GalR1 and 5.71 nM for GalR2. Chemically, it is a hybrid peptide consisting of the N-terminal fragment of galanin and the C-terminal fragment of bradykinin, specifically sequenced as galanin(1-13)-Gln14-bradykinin(2-9)-amide. Developed by researchers at Stockholm University and Karolinska Institutet, M617 is widely utilized as a pharmacological research tool to investigate the physiological roles of GalR1 signaling. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its effects in modulating insulin sensitivity, glucose uptake, food intake, seizure susceptibility, and neuropathic pain. M617 is primarily available as a research-use-only reagent.
