Drug intelligence / Profile preview
M710 is a proposed biosimilar to aflibercept, the active ingredient in Eylea. It is being developed collaboratively by Momenta Pharmaceuticals and Mylan. Aflibercept is a recombinant fusion protein that acts as a decoy receptor for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), thereby inhibiting VEGF-mediated neovascularization and vascular permeability. The primary indications for aflibercept (and thus for its biosimilars) include neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration, macular edema following retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular edema, and diabetic retinopathy in patients with diabetic macular edema[1][2][4].
