Drug intelligence / Profile preview
m8Δ + AAV-Pv(s25-CSP) is a preclinical-stage, heterologous viral-vectored multistage vaccine candidate developed for the prevention of Plasmodium vivax malaria. The vaccine platform utilizes a prime-boost regimen consisting of a highly attenuated vaccinia virus strain, LC16m8Δ (m8Δ), as the prime, followed by a recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) boost. The vectors harbor a fusion gene encoding the pre-erythrocytic stage antigen Plasmodium vivax circumsporozoite protein (PvCSP) and the sexual stage antigen Pvs25. This dual-antigen approach is designed to elicit robust antibody responses that provide both sterile protection against sporozoite challenge and transmission-blocking efficacy to prevent the spread of the parasite.
