Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Maalox Plus is an over-the-counter combination medication used to treat symptoms of excess stomach acid and intestinal gas. It contains two antacids, aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide, which work by neutralizing gastric acid to relieve heartburn and indigestion. The third component, simeticone, is an antifoaming agent that reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the digestive tract, allowing them to be expelled more easily. Developed by Opella Healthcare (a Sanofi subsidiary), it is typically administered as an oral suspension for the relief of dyspepsia, bloating, and flatulence.
