Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MAAT Evolute is a sustained-release ocular drug delivery system developed by Mati Therapeutics for the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The system utilizes a proprietary L-shaped punctal plug inserted into the tear duct (punctum) to provide continuous medication delivery to the tear film. The device consists of a drug-eluting core, typically containing the prostaglandin analog travoprost, encapsulated in a polymer sleeve with a cyanoacrylate film to ensure unidirectional release. This platform technology aims to address patient compliance issues associated with traditional daily eye drop therapies by providing continuous drug delivery through a simple office-based procedure. Clinical trials have demonstrated high retention rates and significant reduction in intraocular pressure over extended periods.
