Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MAAT034 is a next-generation, donor-independent, full ecosystem synthetic microbiome therapy developed by MaaT Pharma. It is the first candidate from the company's proprietary MET-C platform and is designed to optimize intestinal microbiome functions prior to and during immunotherapy in major oncology indications. The therapy aims to improve patient responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) such as anti-PD-1 and anti-PD-L1 agents by restoring gut barrier integrity, modulating immune responses, and enhancing T cell activation. Preclinical studies have shown that MAAT034 effectively engrafts in the gut, increases production of key microbial-derived metabolites (including short-chain fatty acids, secondary bile acids, and tryptophan derivatives), improves gastrointestinal physiology, and significantly potentiates anti-tumor effects when combined with ICIs. The product is being developed for use as a tumor-agnostic adjunctive therapy across various cancer types.
