MAB 425 is a murine (mouse-derived) monoclonal antibody of the IgG2A subclass that specifically targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It acts as an EGFR inhibitor and has been investigated primarily for the treatment of high-grade gliomas such as glioblastoma multiforme and astrocytoma with anaplastic foci. The drug has been studied both in its native form and as a radioiodinated conjugate (notably with iodine-125), administered via intravenous or intraarterial injection. Its mechanism involves binding to EGFR-overexpressing tumor cells, leading to direct antitumor effects including tumor necrosis and inflammatory responses. Clinical studies have shown increased median survival in patients with high-grade gliomas treated with MAB 425 or its radioiodinated form compared to historical controls. However, it is not approved for any indication[1][2][5][7].
