Overview

Mab XL313 is an experimental monoclonal antibody that targets a specific cryptic regulatory element within type-I collagen. This element, characterized by the amino acid sequence RGDKGE, is typically hidden within the triple helical structure of intact collagen but becomes exposed only when the collagen is proteolytically cleaved or structurally altered. Acting as a biomechanical switch in the tumor microenvironment, the exposure of this site allows for differential control of cell signaling pathways. By binding to this cryptic element, Mab XL313 inhibits tumor growth and inflammation, as demonstrated in preclinical models including B16F10 melanoma and chick embryo assays. The antibody was developed through research at the Maine Medical Center Research Institute and New York University.
