Overview

mAb158 is an experimental **monoclonal antibody** directed against aggregated amyloid beta, with preferential binding to soluble amyloid-beta protofibrils rather than monomeric peptide or mature fibrils. It was developed by **BioArctic** as the murine precursor and research analogue of **lecanemab**, and has primarily been used in preclinical Alzheimer's disease studies to test whether selective clearance of toxic Aβ protofibrils can modify amyloid pathology. In aged Tg2576 transgenic mice, repeated mAb158 dosing reduced brain Aβ protofibrils first and, with longer treatment, also reduced insoluble Aβ42 and plaque burden, supporting a disease-modifying anti-amyloid immunotherapy concept for Alzheimer's disease.
