Drug intelligence / Profile preview
mAb_Staph is a monoclonal antibody (IgG1) in development by Immunethep for the treatment of Staphylococcus infections, including Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-resistant S. aureus [MRSA] and vancomycin-resistant S. aureus [VRSA]) and Staphylococcus epidermidis. The antibody targets bacterial glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (bGAPDH), a conserved virulence factor excreted by bacteria to suppress the host's immune system. By neutralizing extracellular bGAPDH, mAb_Staph prevents the activation of Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) on B lymphocytes and the subsequent rapid production of Interleukin-10 (IL-10), thereby restoring the host's natural immune response to clear the bacterial infection.
