MACF1 CRISPR-Cas9 is a genome editing tool designed to inhibit the expression of Microtubule Actin Crosslinking Factor 1 (MACF1), a spectraplakin protein that cross-links microtubules and actin filaments. MACF1 is highly expressed in glioblastoma tissue and is associated with resistance to chemotherapy. By utilizing the CRISPR-Cas9 system to knock out or inhibit MACF1, researchers aim to sensitize glioblastoma cells to treatment with BCNU (carmustine), potentially serving as a neoadjuvant approach to improve therapeutic outcomes in brain cancer.
