Orlance's MACH-1 HBV vaccine is a preclinical nucleic acid vaccine candidate specifically designed to address the unmet need for effective Hepatitis B virus (HBV) immunization in immunocompromised individuals. Utilizing the proprietary MACH-1 (Micro-particle Accelerated Delivery) platform, the vaccine is delivered epidermally via a powdered gene gun. This biolistic method propels DNA-coated gold micro-particles directly into the skin's epidermis, targeting the dense population of Langerhans cells and other antigen-presenting cells. By bypassing the limitations of traditional protein-based vaccines, which often fail to elicit protective antibody titers in patients with weakened immune systems (such as transplant recipients or HIV patients), this DNA-based approach aims to induce potent cellular and humoral immune responses. The platform is designed to be stable at room temperature and does not require a cold chain, potentially increasing accessibility.
