Machkhan

Machkhan (CJ-30059) is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) antihypertensive medication developed by HK inno.N Corporation (formerly CJ HealthCare). It contains two active ingredients: candesartan cilexetil, an angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor antagonist, and amlodipine besylate, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. Candesartan works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in tissues such as vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland, thereby inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. Amlodipine inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to peripheral vasodilation and reduced systemic vascular resistance. This combination provides complementary mechanisms for blood pressure reduction and is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy. Machkhan was launched in South Korea in December 2016.
