Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Macrafol-L is an oral nutritional supplement developed by TCF Pharmaceuticals, formulated specifically for gynecological and maternal nutritional support. It is a fixed-dose combination containing methylcobalamin (vitamin B12), L-methylfolate (the active form of folate), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and vitamin D. This combination is designed to support maternal health, fetal development, and prevent nutritional deficiencies during pregnancy. Methylcobalamin and L-methylfolate work synergistically in the one-carbon metabolism pathway to regulate homocysteine levels and support DNA synthesis. Pyridoxine serves as an essential cofactor for numerous metabolic enzymes, while DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid, is crucial for fetal brain and retinal development. Vitamin D supports calcium homeostasis and bone health. Macrafol-L is approved and marketed in India.
