Overview
Macrogol 3350 + sodium chloride + sodium bicarbonate + potassium chloride is an osmotic laxative combination medication used for bowel cleansing prior to colonoscopy and for the treatment of constipation and fecal impaction. The primary active ingredient, macrogol 3350 (polyethylene glycol 3350), is a high-molecular-weight polymer that acts as an osmotic agent, drawing water into the intestinal lumen to soften stool and increase bowel motility. The inclusion of electrolytes (sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, and potassium chloride) is intended to maintain isotonicity and prevent clinically significant changes in electrolyte balance or hydration status during the cleansing process. This formulation is supplied as a powder for reconstitution and is approved for use in both adults and pediatric patients.
