Overview

MAG-017 is a preclinical-stage monoclonal antibody developed by Miragene that targets Blood Dendritic Cell Antigen 2 (BDCA2). BDCA2 is a C-type lectin receptor exclusively expressed on plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs), which are the primary producers of type I interferons (IFN-I) in the human body. The overproduction of IFN-I by pDCs is a central driver of inflammation and autoimmunity in diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE). MAG-017 is designed to act as a pDC-depleting agent, aiming to reduce the source of pathogenic interferons and suppress the inflammatory cascade, thereby providing a targeted therapeutic approach for patients with lupus-related disorders.
