MAG-EPA oil + orlistat is a combination drug consisting of **MAG-EPA oil** (monoacylglycerol form of eicosapentaenoic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid) and **orlistat** (a gastrointestinal lipase inhibitor)[5][2]. Orlistat acts by inhibiting gastric and pancreatic lipases, thereby preventing the hydrolysis and absorption of dietary triglycerides; this leads to reduced fat absorption and promotes weight loss[6][7][1]. MAG-EPA oil provides EPA, a long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid important for cardiovascular and metabolic health. However, orlistat reduces the absorption of EPA and other long-chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids when administered together[2]. This combination is used in clinical trials to evaluate their synergistic effects on lipid metabolism, obesity, and metabolic diseases. Combining orlistat with fish oil (MAG-EPA) may affect the pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of EPA, with orlistat reducing overall fat absorption, including beneficial fatty acids[2][5]. Primary investigational indications are obesity and related metabolic disorders.
