MAG200 is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" stem cell therapy developed by Magellan Stem Cells for the treatment of osteoarthritis, particularly of the knee. It consists of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from adipose tissue. The therapy is administered via intra-articular injection and works by reducing proinflammatory cytokines to alleviate pain and secreting transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1) to promote local tissue repair and cartilage regeneration. Clinical data from Phase I/II trials demonstrated significant improvements in joint function, pain reduction, and quality of life, with benefits sustained for over four years. A Phase III trial has been initiated to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of MAG200 in adult participants with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis.
