Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Almag Gel is an oral antacid suspension developed by Alde Medi Impex. It is a fixed-dose combination of magaldrate (an antacid), simethicone (an anti-foaming agent), and oxetacaine (a local anesthetic). Magaldrate works by neutralizing excess stomach acid, thereby relieving heartburn and indigestion. Simethicone reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, facilitating their coalescence and passage to alleviate bloating and flatulence. Oxetacaine acts as a potent local anesthetic that remains stable in acidic environments, providing rapid and localized pain relief to the irritated or ulcerated mucosal lining of the stomach and esophagus. Almag Gel is approved and indicated for the management of hyperacidity, heartburn, bloating, gastritis, and discomfort associated with peptic ulcers.
