Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Magnaderm is a topical combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Anhox Healthcare. It is primarily formulated as a cream or ointment containing three active small molecule ingredients: beclometasone dipropionate (a corticosteroid), clotrimazole (an antifungal), and gentamicin (an aminoglycoside antibiotic). The beclometasone component acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to reduce inflammation and itching; clotrimazole inhibits lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase to disrupt fungal cell membrane synthesis; and gentamicin binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis. This triple-action formulation is indicated for the treatment of various inflammatory skin disorders complicated by bacterial or fungal infections, including eczema, contact dermatitis, ringworm, and cutaneous candidiasis. A variant formulation of the product may substitute betamethasone for beclometasone as the corticosteroid component.
