Magnesium biotinate is a novel salt form of D-biotin (vitamin B7) in which biotin is complexed with magnesium. It consists of approximately 86% biotin and 14% magnesium by weight. Magnesium biotinate has been shown to be about 40 times more soluble than standard D-biotin, resulting in superior absorption and higher tissue uptake in preclinical studies. This enhanced bioavailability may make it more effective at normalizing glucose and fat metabolism compared to conventional forms of biotin, and it may also provide neuroprotective effects. The compound is primarily developed as a dietary supplement for the prevention or treatment of conditions associated with biotin deficiency—including inherited metabolic disorders (such as multiple carboxylase deficiency), brittle hair, alopecia, anemia, seborrheic dermatitis, neurological symptoms related to deficiency (e.g., lethargy, depression), and other states where increased demand or loss leads to low levels of this vitamin[1][2][4][5].
