Overview
Magnolia flos nano-extract hydrogel is a botanical nasal preparation developed by the Chinese PLA General Hospital for the treatment of mild allergic rhinitis. The formulation utilizes a nano-sized extract of *Magnolia flos* (known in traditional Chinese medicine as Xinyihua), which contains bioactive compounds such as lignans (e.g., magnolin) and volatile oils. These components are known to possess anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties, primarily by inhibiting the release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators from mast cells. By incorporating the nano-extract into a hydrogel base, the drug aims to enhance the solubility, bioavailability, and mucosal retention of the active ingredients within the nasal cavity, providing a localized therapeutic effect to alleviate symptoms like congestion, sneezing, and rhinorrhea.
