Overview
Mailuoning is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation composed of extracts from four medicinal herbs: *Dendrobium nobile*, *Scrophularia ningpoensis*, *Achyranthes bidentata*, and *Lonicera japonica*. It is primarily used in China for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, including ischemic stroke (cerebral infarction) and peripheral vascular disorders such as thromboangiitis obliterans and arteriosclerosis obliterans. The formulation is designed to clear heat, nourish Yin, and promote blood circulation to resolve stasis. Pharmacologically, Mailuoning has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation, improve blood rheology and microcirculation, and exert anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects. It is available in multiple dosage forms, including intravenous injections and oral granules, the latter of which is being studied for efficacy in stroke convalescence.
