Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Maintane is an injectable medication developed and marketed by Jagsonpal Pharmaceuticals in India. Its active ingredient is hydroxyprogesterone caproate, a synthetic progestin hormone. Maintane is primarily indicated for the prevention of preterm birth in pregnant women who have a history of at least one spontaneous preterm delivery. As a progesterone receptor agonist, it mimics the effects of natural progesterone to help maintain pregnancy by modulating the immune response to prevent embryo rejection, facilitating uterine attachment, and inhibiting premature uterine contractions. The medication is available in 250mg and 500mg formulations and is typically administered weekly via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection by healthcare professionals, starting between 16-20 weeks of gestation until 37 weeks or delivery.
