Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Maiwei Dihuang Pills is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed and manufactured by Lanzhou Foci Pharmaceutical. It is an expansion of the classical Liuwei Dihuang formula, supplemented with *Ophiopogon japonicus* and *Schisandra chinensis* to enhance its therapeutic effects on the lungs and kidneys. The complete formulation consists of eight herbal ingredients: *Rehmannia glutinosa*, *Cornus officinalis*, *Dioscorea opposita* (yam), *Poria cocos*, *Alisma orientalis*, *Paeonia suffruticosa* (peony bark), *Ophiopogon japonicus*, and *Schisandra chinensis*. In TCM theory, it is primarily used to nourish kidney and lung Yin and to 'receive qi.' It is clinically indicated for conditions associated with Yin deficiency, such as chronic dry cough, night sweats, dizziness, tinnitus, and symptoms associated with menopause.
