Makiron

Makiron is a long-established over-the-counter (OTC) antiseptic and wound care product developed and marketed by Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare in Japan. It is primarily used for the sterilization and disinfection of minor skin injuries such as cuts, abrasions, and scratches. The flagship formulation, Makiron s, is a combination product containing benzethonium chloride (a quaternary ammonium antiseptic), chlorpheniramine maleate (an antihistamine to reduce itching), and allantoin (a tissue-repair agent). It works by disrupting bacterial cell membranes, blocking histamine receptors to alleviate inflammation, and promoting skin regeneration. The product line has expanded to include specialized formulations for acne and various ointments and lotions, maintaining a significant presence in the Japanese consumer healthcare market.
