Malaseb

Malaseb is a veterinary topical antimicrobial and antifungal skin-care product line combining chlorhexidine gluconate and miconazole nitrate for dogs, cats, and horses. It is formulated as a medicated shampoo, spray, and flush to treat or support management of seborrhoeic dermatitis and other bacterial, yeast, and dermatophyte-associated skin diseases, including infections caused by Malassezia pachydermatis, Staphylococcus intermedius, and Microsporum canis.[3][4][5][6][8][11][14] Chlorhexidine provides broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, while miconazole disrupts fungal cell membranes to control yeasts and dermatophytes, and the formulations may include emollients, essential fatty acids, and vitamin E to support skin barrier function and hydration.[1][2][3][9][11][14] Malaseb is marketed as an Rx-only or veterinary product and is commonly used under veterinary supervision as part of topical therapy protocols for dermatologic disease in companion animals.[3][5][8][10]
