Overview

Mandibular Block-Ege University refers to a specific intervention arm in a clinical trial conducted by Ege University, evaluating the efficacy of different anesthesia techniques in paediatric dentistry. This arm involves the administration of 1 mL of lidocaine using the traditional inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) technique, delivered via a conventional dental syringe and a 27-gauge long needle. Lidocaine is an amide-type local anesthetic that functions by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby preventing the depolarization of nerve membranes and the subsequent conduction of pain impulses. In this study, the technique is used as a standard-of-care comparator to assess the performance of computer-controlled intraosseous anesthesia systems in children aged 6 to 12 years.
