Overview

Manelimab (BCD-135) is a monoclonal antibody that targets programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), also known as CD274. By binding to PD-L1, manelimab blocks its interaction with the PD-1 receptor on T cells, thereby inhibiting an immune checkpoint pathway that tumors use to evade immune detection. This mechanism enhances the body’s antitumor immune response. Manelimab is being developed by Biocad for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer, bladder cancer, small cell lung cancer, renal cell carcinoma, and melanoma. The drug has been evaluated in phase 1 clinical trials for these indications.
