Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MM01 is a next-generation allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) developed by Inmunotek S.L. for the treatment of birch pollen-induced allergic rhinitis and rhinoconjunctivitis. The vaccine consists of an allergoid—a *Betula pendula* (birch) pollen extract chemically modified with glutaraldehyde to reduce IgE-binding capacity and minimize the risk of systemic allergic reactions—conjugated to mannan derived from *Saccharomyces cerevisiae*. This mannan component acts as a biological adjuvant by specifically targeting the mannose receptor (CD206) on dendritic cells (DCs). By enhancing the uptake and processing of the allergen by DCs, the vaccine promotes a shift in the immune response from a Th2-mediated allergic profile toward a Th1 and regulatory T cell (Treg) profile, thereby inducing long-term immunological tolerance.
