Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Manukapli is a 100% sterile, medical-grade Manuka honey wound dressing derived from the New Zealand Manuka plant (*Leptospermum scoparium*). It is being evaluated by the Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia for its otological safety and efficacy in patients with mucosal-type chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) undergoing tympanoplasty. The product is designed to promote the re-epithelialization of the tympanic membrane and improve the healing process post-surgery. Its therapeutic activity is driven by its natural antimicrobial properties, high osmolarity, and low pH, which collectively inhibit bacterial growth and provide a conducive environment for tissue regeneration without the risk of developing antibiotic resistance.
